In the Zaffiro jewelry design studio— located a short stroll from their 1913 Craftsman home in the Hawthorne neighborhood of Portland, OR— Jack and Elizabeth Gualtieri carry forward the artistic legacy of ancient Etruscans. The technique, called granulation, is a decorative process that consists of applying miniature spheres of gold(or, in its modern adaptation, platinum) to a similar surface and then heating the entire piece to a temperature high enough to form a permanent bond between the surface and the spheres. If the spheres are over-fired they’ll melt onto the surface; if under-fired, they won't adhere properly.

As a child, one of Marcia's favorite hobbies was collecting different types of stones. She stored them in a little collectors box. Today, that box still occupies a special space in her closet - and now, she knows why.Marcia designed her first piece of fine jewelry after receiving her Masters in Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Design. After being unable to find a double ring that she really loved she decided to take on the design challenge herself and called the piece Asymmetrics + Diamonds. A colleague found the design to be compelling and encouraged her to make a submission to an international design competition based in Milan. She did, and a year later she was at the Gala in Lake Como receiving a Golden Award for it.After winning the award, people approached her to design more pieces - she identified it as a business opportunity and started her own company. Marcia won another award in Italy the following year and was selected as one of the top 30 emerging designers in New York City by Design Entrepreneurs NYC. She was also nominated for the 2014 Mort Abelson New Designer of the Year Award by Jewelers of America. Marcia's pieces have graced the runways of New York Fashion Week and the red carpet at the Met Gala. Her work has also been featured in WWD and Elle Magazine.

It is no surprise that Arman Sarkisyan has become one of the world’s most renowned jewelry designers…artistry runs in his blood. From a young age, Arman watched in awe as his father – a master jeweler in Armenia and Russia with a career spanning 53 years - meticulously honed his craft. Arman became fascinated with the concept of jewelry as wearable art: a tangible expression of one’s imagination, influence, and inspiration. Under the tutelage of his father, he has been creating in this medium for almost 30 years. Arman’s jewelry brilliantly juxtaposes old-world technique and modern aesthetic. Working in rich 22kt gold, oxidized silver, diamonds, and bright gemstones, Arman uses methods from a bygone era, like hand-engraving, to achieve a level of intricacy and beauty that is rarely seen in today’s craftsmanship. Each piece of Arman is hand-fabricated in Los Angeles, CA, from concept to completion. This couture approach to jewelry sets Arman apart from other designers. From one-of-a-kind masterpieces to everyday wardrobe essentials, there is an emotional element present in each and every one of his pieces. They truly are modern heirlooms.
